SHX - Management Systems
SHX Cross-Platform Delivery Control Solution
Background
SHX, a company specialized in ERP systems, serves segments such as retail, wholesale, and distribution centers, with a focus on the construction materials market. The company's main product, ERP GIX, integrates modules like MRP, CRM, BI, WMS, sales automation, and inventory automation. SHX launched a cross-platform delivery control system aimed at optimizing the distribution process by integrating with ERP GIX, a legacy client-server platform written in Java.
Challenges
- Develop an application that would seamlessly integrate with ERP GIX, respecting its technical limitations.
- Ensure the application is intuitive for carriers, many of whom were not familiar with digital technologies.
- Maintain consistency in the user experience between the legacy ERP and the new mobile and web platforms.
Solutions
- Developed an accessible application for drivers, with a simplified interface featuring larger fonts and intuitive icons.
- Maintained multi-platform consistency, ensuring a uniform experience across mobile, web, and the legacy ERP.
- Enhanced support access by implementing a shortcut button for immediate contact with the support team.
- Optimized the map feature to provide clear routes and real-time traffic information.
- Streamlined camera integration to allow drivers to document deliveries quickly and easily.
Results
- Achieved a 12% conversion rate in the distributor segment, surpassing the initial goal of 10%.
- Significant improvement in user satisfaction and efficiency in the delivery process.
Tools and Processes
- Iteration and Feedback: Conducted a series of iterations based on direct user feedback, including practical tests and satisfaction surveys.
- Continuous Data Analysis: Utilized collected data to better understand user interaction with the app and identify the most valued features.
- Prototyping: Created prototypes for conceptual visualization and reducing uncertainty, ensuring stakeholder buy-in.
Team and Responsibilities
- I acted as the sole designer responsible for the UI/UX of all solutions at SHX. For this specific project, I worked directly with the logistics and WMS module squad.
- The team included professionals from implementation, consulting, and the Customer Success (CS) team, focusing on logistics and WMS.
- There was no formal Project Manager (PM); instead, the technical leader of the squad coordinated the project.

Learnings
- Segmentation by Persona: Understanding the different goals of each persona, including users of legacy systems, is crucial in product design.
- Multi-Platform Constraints: Recognizing and addressing technical restrictions is fundamental for maintaining visual consistency in cross-platform solutions.
- Usability Testing: A user-centered approach is effective in ensuring product adoption across the entire supply chain.
